How to paint a door – Top first, then sides.

How to paint a door – Top first, then sides.

Random little piece of info I kind of figured out after looking at a door in a house we are renovating at the moment.

If you need to paint a door, start by painting the top and sides of the door first. Once that’s done paint the faces of the door (i.e. the flat surfaces). Painting the top first allows time for any drips and runs from the coat on top to run onto the face, which you then blend in with your face coat.

Any one got any better ideas on this one?

    Dude!!
Why the hell are you painting the top of the door?
No one ever paints the top of the door because no one ever sees the top of the door (I am resisting a tall person pun here, but I actually don’t even think you are tall enough to see the top of the door).
Painting the top of the door takes effort, and makes your door larger, increasing the chances of it rubbing when you close it.

So in conclusion, don’t waste your time or paint.
